First  Ballymena Presbyterian Church

The following text is an interim list of men in the forces that is taken from the Ballymena Weekly Telegraph of 24th April 1915.

In our last issue we gave the "Roll of Honour" of St. Patrick's Church, Ballymena, setting forth the names of the young men belonging to that church who had responded to the call of "King and country." This week we append the roll of honour of First Ballymena Presbyterian Church, of which Rev. Thomas Haslett, M.A., is the esteemed minister, and it will be seen there from that the young manhood of that congregation has also given of its best in the same sacred cause. The list, unfortunately, contains the name of more than one who has already paid the full price of patriotism, but it is some consolation to those who mourn them to know that they died while gallantly fighting for their country in the hour of its greatest need. We append the roll of honour of this church up to date, giving as far as possible in each instance the home address, regiment, or ship:

High Kirk (2nd) Presbyterian Church, Ballymena.

The following text is an interim list of men in the forces and was taken from the Ballymena Weekly Telegraph of 22nd May 1915.

In our last issue we gave the roll of honour of Harryville Presbyterian Church, Ballymena, setting forth the names of the young men belonging to that congregation who had responded to the call of King and country. This week we append the roll of honour of High Kirk, Ballymena, the pastorate of which is now vacant through the call of Rev. John M'Quitty to Dumbarton, Scotland. From this list it will be seen that the young manhood who claim allegiance to the High Kirk, have made a noble response. At least three of them -- Sergeant W. Black, and Lance-Corporal R. Black, both of the Highland Light Infantry, and Private Jerry Black, Connaught Rangers (three, brothers, whose home is at Dunfane, Ballygarvey, Ballymena), have already paid the price of their patriotism, the first-named having been killed in action, and the other two were wounded some time ago. The following text is an interim list of men in the forces and is taken from the Ballymena Weekly Telegraph of 5th June 1915.

This week we give the roll of honour of All Saints' R.C. Church, Ballymena, the clergymen in connection with which are, Very Rev. Thomas O'Donnell, P.P., V.F.; Rev. J. J. McGlave, C.C., and Rev. J. McLeister, C.C. Although not numerically as strong as some of the town churches, the response from the congregation of All Saints' takes a creditable place in the numbers of adherents on active service. Though there is no official roll of honour in connection with the congregation, we have been supplied with the following list of those connected with the church who are in the service of King and country, and this shows that the response has been very good. One, at least, on the roll of honour has already paid the price of his patriotism, and several others have been wounded whilst doing their duty in the noble cause for which the Allies are fighting. We append, as far as possible, the full name, home address, regiment, or ship:

The following text is copied from the Ballymena Weekly Telegraph of 29th May 1915.

In our last issue we gave the roll of honour of High Kirk (Second Ballymena Presbyterian Church), setting forth the names of the young men belonging to that congregation who had responded to the call of King and country. This week we append the roll of honour of the Methodist Church, Ballymena, of which Rev. J. O. Price is the esteemed pastor. In proportion to the size of the congregation, the response of its young manhood has been good, and one of the number, Private A. Rainey, of the Royal Irish Fusiliers, has been reported as wounded in action. We append in each instance the full name, regiment or ship, and home address of those serving with the colours:
